Each year, A Call to Action Oconee sponsors a poster contest for Oconee area elementary and middle school students. Prizes for the winning posters are awarded in October, National Bullying Prevention Month. This event is an attempt to bring awareness to the problem of bullying, relay the message that bullying is not acceptable, and encourage students to step up and say no to bullying behaviors.
Dr. Thorsland, Superintendent of Oconee County schools, presented the awards and expressed his pride in the students for their diligence and hard work.
Cash prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners in each of the four categories: First and Second Grade entries, Third and Fourth Grade entries, Fifth and Sixth Grade entires, and Seventh and Eighth Grade entires. There were two Grand Prize winners. One was chosen from first through fourth grade entries. The other from posters submitted by fifth through eighth grade students.
